Mud, sweat and over £7,000 raised for Great Ormond Street.
On 26 September 2015 MerchantCantos braved the mud and mayhem of Tough Mudder to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
Under the name ‘MCHammers’, 31 of us ran, hurdled, froze, climbed, wriggled, carried and cried raising a grand total of £7,169. Many thanks to all those who dug deep and contributed to this fantastic cause.
In a field near Winchester we gathered in the autumn sunshine in good spirits, keen to show our mettle. Thirty-plus obstacles later we crossed the finishing line covered from head to toe in mud, our skin still tingling from the electric shock run, eyes streaming from the tear gas crawl and shins still raw from many a slippery wall and log. But after a fist-pump and several group hugs (and a free bottle of cider) the tales of courage and endurance were soon breaking through mud-cracked smiles.
Richard Carpenter, team member and Managing Partner at MerchantCantos, said: “It was a once in a lifetime experience - but an experience that will change some lives forever. I'm proud of the whole team, for their commitment to completing the course and raising such an amazing total for Great Ormond Street. It was a great team effort."
Laura Savory, Senior Fundraising Manager at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, said: “We’re so grateful to MerchantCantos for their generosity and support. The money raised will help to make a huge difference to young patients and families from across the UK”.

"I'm smiling but I ain't laughing..."
"OMG! OMG! OMG!"
"Head down, bum up. Or was it the other way around?"
"Come to the country they said, have some fun they said..."
"I never, ever want to grow up."
